if you're strictly a day trader

if you day trade, ctg's hft brokerage offers excellent advantages over td, scottrade, etrade and other retail brokers. the executions are really fast and they have a choice of fusion, lightspeed and sterling. you have to have a balance over 25k or you can't pattern day trade. If you're trading prop and seek retail for the SIPC insurance or want the standard retail margin requirements, the lowest rates and tons of routing options are available. They also have free education courses for their members. It's a very customer oriented company. their specialty is automated trading systems / blackboxes but that means tons of volume and economies of scale mean lower rates for all traders.

you do have to pay for the data & software fees. That's one downside over some other brokers but the level 2 platforms have some neat execution abilities that are unavailable through more traditional brokerages.

overall, if you're trading a lot intraday, this brokerage is definitely worth checking out

Excellent HFT Broker

per-share execution rates are excellent. there's no ticket charges! for HFT/Blackbox traders, I highly recommend CTG. not only are the executions excellent but there are about 100 different routing venues as well as a choice of platforms to trade on. the minimum is high at 25k but these type of brokerages for for PDT accounts. They have excellent hosting/co-location options as well and a real solid infrastructure. the clearing is done through Wedbush so the borrows are nothing short of excellent. I haven't had any issues as of yet but if I run into any, I will definitely update this posting!
