Great Prop Firm

This is the first broker I've used. 20-1 leverage is very powerful but potentially dangerous so BE CAREFUL and don't go overboard! It's great to use if you want to get around the PDT rule. I love the laser platform. Sung and Steve are helpful and professional, I enjoy doing business with them.

hello i'm thinking of joining but seem very shady the way they email you back and so on i did the paper work i just need to wire the funds and be fore i do that i want to make sure there this running well ? .

Straight up guys

I didn't join Cy but I wanted to share my experience. I was looking for another prop firm to just daytrade equities as I am already trading options/futures through another firm. I contacted them on the phone and they were very open and personable and made sure to explain all costs and options. They also took the time to discuss the setup and what would happen if I wanted to leave. As I said, I ultimately didn't decide to go with them but I was very impressed and have heard other good things about CY

what the others said regarding the phones and email is true. they do seem shady in that way, but they have good rates and know a ton about ecn schedule.

Loved it, although advertised in the wrong place

I learned about CY Group from Timothy Sykes. He has a review of them in his blog. Unfortunately CY Group capital is probably the worst KIND of account you want to trade Tim's strategy on! lol

Cy Group does not access OTC BB and Pink Sheets, and most of Tim's trades are on those, so by the time you get a Nasdaq company it is a complete gamble that one will be profitable. You don't want to be in such volatile things with their capital, although position sizing definitely helps and is recommended.

Okay so for other daytrading, scalp trading, they are pretty good. There are a lot of options for routing orders in and out, and it is pretty great!

I actually found the non-professionalism very refreshing. You are on your own in the trading world so I don't know why people expect fixed-income subordinate treatment.

Also, speaking of fixed-income, they pay you.

Ho Hum

I contacted these guys based ont he reviews here and I just wasnt sold. Their attitude was really complacent and too laid back for me to want them to deal with my gard earned money. Not keen to go any further with them.

pretty good, pretty big, but scary sometimes

I was a member. I talked them down on commissions, which helped. All-in-all, I would say they're one of the best prop firms ($5k membership for access to $100k), and they have AMAZING routing, including ISEQ which offers $0.003+/share. It's almost worth it just for that one route. Anyway, they're just kind of scary, since they always answer the phone with just "hello?" and they never tell you their address and their emails are always extremely short and they always seem extremely busy. Nothing ever happened whatsoever to justify my fear, but it was just the general "sense" I got from their unprofessionalism. I enjoyed my experience, and they were honest with everything. I just would have preferred more professionalism, I suppose. All-in-all though, I think they're doing a good job and I would recommend them to someone wanting to try a 20:1 prop firm.

Used and stopped, still recommend it

I was a former CY group member, it is all good, if you dont plan to swing. If you are 100% day trader, it is cool! i held some stuff overnight, and they were sold for a loss without ever asking me. U gotta be careful. If u are a pure day trader u are fine with them, although the charts in laser platform is not good. It is just average.

Great for traders who are under PDT.

The customer service, execution, and easy withdrawal are big positives. I never had any problems with this firm. I see a lot of people complaining about their charts, just open a TOS account or esignal. Other than that very satisfied.

Avoid the PDT rule

This is a good broker to use if you want to get around the PDT rule. Execution if very fast, so no problems there. Data fees were my biggest problem. 100/mo if you want it all, plus ecn charges. The charts are horrible so any profit you make, do a withdrawl and open up a thinkorswim account immediately. Customer service is good, maybe a little annoying if they don't understand your trading strategy. I mostly use this to margin in on FAS/FAZ during market reversals so I end up trading very little with this account. I've been hearing about certain other prop firms that are getting busted for their ponzi-esque operation, but CY group has proved themselves to me and I recommend them to anybody wanting to get around the PDT rule. I've found their scanner to be very useful on watchlists which can be linked from other programs.
