Might be ok for other people but it wasn't for me

I was a subscriber on and off or a couple of years. After attended 2 IBD seminars, I decided that I need more help reading chart patterns so when I came across his site from a forum, I decided to subscribe to the newsletter. I'm sure Dan is a great trader but I couldn't learn from just reading his newsletter 3 nights a week (it used to be 4). He doesn't spend that much time in his chat room either (at least he didn't at the time). After struggling to make $ for several months, I attended his live seminar. In the end I gave up following Dan.

Dan is a good teach

His newsletter is concise and I've learned a lot although there are no specific trades. Dan does give suggested buy & sell areas.

Proven Method from Proven Investor

I came across an article on Dan Zanger a few years ago and signed up to his site to see how he does it. Ended up cancelling simply because I had quite a few things in life come up and had no time to trade. Rejoined though about a year ago. His newsletter is good for stock swing traders and provides a lot of chart setups with different entry points and information. He definitely is the real deal and knows what he is talking about but I have a few friends that just haven't been able to use his service to make money. I personally have been able to make money but I spend time studying his charts and reasoning and it took a while for things to click. IMO, you need to be pretty serious about trading and spend time learning charts in order for this service to be of value. He also has a chat room which if you have time during the day to participate, can be very valuable as he will comment on plays throughout the day.

Just be careful as you will be tempted to over trade based on suggestions flying out from members in this chat room, but can also receive some valuable advice along the way.

Overall, good service by proven trader for the right person.

Hmm... Did I miss something?

I had some high hopes about this site. I just got done reading "How to make money in stocks" and I was following a lot of @traderflorida charts and I was getting into CANSLIM. I thought this website would maybe put that altogether. Hopefully add some insight to the patterns that setup, how they setup, what to look for to enter a trade, etc. I mean it is called CHARTPATTERN not BUY AREA.

I barely spent 1 week there out of my 2 week trial.

Maybe I was expecting some videos, charts, educational pages or something. It was all about his newsletter, which he sends out with the same charts, just updating with the new trendlines. I can draw trendlines on your girlfriend, I don't need to learn how to draw those. I wanted to learn the in-and-outs of the strategy/system. I was hoping for more explanation of the actual patterns, and what specifics he looks for in certain patterns. Well that is on the website, in the free section, but it is barely explained.

I guess I could of went into the chat, but personally I'm not a fan of chat rooms. I don't have time to sit in a chat room listening to what other people have to talk about, while I'm trying to watch setups.

In conclusion I would not go back to this site, or refer anyone to it, especially if I had to pay the $90 a month for someone to show me some charts I can find for free on chart.ly or have a "buy area".

Only those really serious about being successful trading...

It was the Fortune article in December 2000 entitled "My Stocks Are Up 10,000%!" about Dan Zanger that really turned me on to the possibilities of trading chart patterns and using technical analysis instead of relying on financial statements and analyst recommendations. I had been an "investor" for years and had lost a lot of money following hot tips and broker recommendations. Dan's showed that it is possible to ignore all the market noise and let the market leading stocks tell you what the market is doing. It sure saved my bacon when I was tempted to jump into stocks like Enron, WorldCom, Bear Stearns, Lehman and other such stocks when the value guys were saying they were a good value play! Dan is the real deal, trades his own money and teaches his subscribers how to identify stocks that have the potential to make big gains. Have been getting his newsletter now since 2003 and I read them religiously. His service works well for just about anyone committed to making money in the trading game but newbies will need to study the educational stuff and learn how to spot chart patterns quickly as his system is not a "get rich quick" method. I have attended two of his annual seminars and find them very helpful in staying on track. My first interview of Dan appeared in Stocks & Commodities mag in 2004 and have written a number of articles since then about him. He is a one of a kind.

Good Value Newsletter, Chatroom and Website

I've been subscribing for about four months now. Generally, I like the service. His approach is influenced by the CANSLIM system of investing and there is no question Daniel Zanger knows his stuff. He has a verified record of making many millions in the stock market. His newsletter that comes out Monday, Wed, Thursday and Sunday is filled with annotated charts with new setups and older setups that are working. The chat room has some experienced traders to chat with along with the moderator and periodically during the day Dan Zanger himself.

There are however, some limitations. For example, I'd note that he has a tendency to claim credit for everything that is mentioned in his newsletter while very rarely noting stocks that fail from one of his patterns. There’s no structure to it in terms of portfolio management nor does this approach lend itself to an accurate accounting of performance. You have to determine how much to put in a stock and how many of his recommendations to actually buy. You can’t buy them all as it’s a continually varying number. It also sometimes feels like he’s over-reactive, as he’ll suggest selling then buying a stock back after just a few days. Buy a few here, sell a few there. It’s all good.

The chat room can be helpful and it’s nice being able to ask Dan questions. His answers are, however, extremely brief. Q. Do you like AAPL? A. Yes. That’s often what you get. It’s cute.

The above qualifications aside, I strongly believe he puts effort into the newsletter. It’s up to you to manage the rest. I appreciate his work and think subscribing is beneficial. He also has some resources on his website including all of his old newsletters which are very instructive, plus his many interviews and 10 golden trading rules and more.

In conclusion, i use his service to keep on top of where the action is in the stock market and to time entries and exits. His experienced eye is constantly helping me to improve as an investor.

Learning from a master swing trader

Unlike other sites, this one actually teaches you how to trade by example. Dan Zanger has a proven track record so his advice comes from experience. The stock picks in the newsletter are some of the best I have seen and allow me to use smaller stops to enter based on chart patterns and price action. Zanger drops in his chat room a few times a day to give advice and direction but I wish it was more often. If I catch just a few of his picks I can make money using this method. He is not right on every call but the ones that work are super gainers.

Chartpattern provides practical info for beginners

This site has a great chatroom with a lot of senior traders willing to share their expertise. Dan Zanger gives a lot of down to earth no-nonsense information for traders starting out and updates intraday in the chatroom for which stocks are moving and which are not. If traders don't listen or ask silly questions over and over in the chatroom he can get a little impatient. But I would recommend this site if you want to learn how to make money using technical analysis and dont mind getting your knuckles whacked with a ruler occasionally.

Dan is a awesome swing trader. He trades all kind of patterns on stocks that are solid companies with solid trend. I subscribe to his services and always eager to what he has to say about market and his take going into the week. I discovered "CHART FLIPPER" from his site that i use everyday with QUOTE TRACKER. Chart Flipper basically flips charts for you from your watchlist so u don't have to click on individual charts all day. As posters below posted that he turned 10K into 40M which is damn impressive and means "doing the right thing @ right time". I follow him on twitter too @DanZanger . His $Study quotes can easy tell you that he is one experienced trader who knows his game very well.

Top 7 Trader in Trader 100 Magazine

This guy loves charts and technical analysis and picks a lot of solid winners – I’m in the process of taking the free trial – I’m very excited about this site – lots to learn here. Momentum trading is where the money is made and Dan knows his stuff – he made millions in the late 90’s and continues to profit and teach as well.
