Citibank

Citigroup Inc., a global financial services company, provides consumers, corporations, governments, and institutions with a range of financial products and services, including consumer banking and credit, corporate and investment banking, securities brokerage, and wealth management. The company has two primary segments, Citicorp and Citi Holdings. The Citicorp segment operates as a global bank for businesses and consumers with two primary businesses, Institutional Clients Group and Regional Consumer Banks. The Institutional Clients Group business provides transaction services, such as treasury and trade solutions, and securities and fund services; and securities and banking services, including market making, underwriting and advisory, corporate lending, private banking, and institutional asset management. It serves corporate, institutional, public sector, and private banking clients. The Regional Consumer Banks business provides traditional banking services, including retail banking, and branded cards, and small and middle market commercial banking in North America, Asia, Latin America, and Europe, Middle East, and Africa. The Citi Holdings segment has three businesses: Brokerage and Asset Management, Local Consumer Finance, and Special Asset Pool. Brokerage and Asset Management business includes the 49% stake in Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Nikko Cordial Securities, Nikko Asset Management, and Select Global Asset Management (Retail Alternative Investments) operations. Local Consumer Finance consists of CitiFinancial, Mortgage, Student Loans, Auto Loans, Retail Partner Cards, Primerica, and CRE activities in North America, as well as the International Consumer Finance activates.

used them for years, not with TD
i was with citi for a long time but switched to TD. it was decent but wires are expensive with citi (much cheaper at TD) and the customer service is all outsourced and is terrible. Do research before choosing a bank to do business with. For my business, Citi wasn't able to compete with other smaller banks.

My Mortgage is with them
They have serviced 3 of my 8 mortgages (I have rentals) for many years and have always done a good job with it, I never miss a payment and they still gave me a loan mod on my OOC property and lowered my payment and interest rate a couple years back. The customer service has always been USA call centers from as far back as I can remember and they have branches all over the place including one by my house.

One thing a lot of people don't know is if you have a mortgage (over 200k I think) with them you automatically qualify for their highest status checking account which is awesome and comes with a lot of perks.

I would continue to do business with them, hope this helps

Appropriately Convenient
I have never had any problems with it and it would notify me to confirm transactions in the event of high purchases from scams.

It has protected me from frauds by calling me, though I am uncertain how these originate(hopefully not from their system)

Fraud Issues and High Interest
Citibank is conveniently located everywhere. They also have extended customer service hours, and you can actually reach a human (surprising, these days). Those are the positive aspects of my experience with having a Citibank credit card.

On the negative side, I experienced two issues with fraud (don't know who is to blame, but none of my other card numbers have ever been stolen). The handling of it was decent, but bureaucratic (as is everything at Citi).

I have had a Citibank card for over a decade. When I missed a payment once, 2 years ago, my interest rate immediately shot up to 30.99%. I really don't feel valued, or that my 8 years of consistency did me any good.

Also, their ExtraCash program is fairly useless (the only rewards I can get on my card), unlike programs with other cards that you can exchange for cash or gift cards to places you might actually shop.

Not a positive experience. I'm jumping ship and going with Chase and AMEX.

Only bank I would leave them for would be a local bank
Due to some of the reviews, I may have to look into what their current offers are for credit cards. Currently the only decent offer I've received is from Chase (Slate card; 11.99%). I'm bitter on Wells Fargo and Discover; Wells Fargo is charging me 18.74% (been with them since 2004) and Discover is a long story: "pre-approved" offer of 10.99-17.99%; was told my % would be based over next 6 months, but received 17.99% as soon as card arrived. The card has not been activated, but I am abusing my 0% transfer balance through 2012.

I have primarily only used Citibank as a bank (not a debtor), although I do have a no-longer-offered Citi Flexline. I have been with them since 2005. Before them I was with Wells Fargo, but I moved up north and there were not and still aren't any Wells Fargos in my area.

Overall I have been happy with their customer service. I've been to a few different branches across the city and have always been treated well.

Also, I would have given them three stars for convenience, but they recently opened up a branch in Union Sq, so that's been wonderful. Also, this branch uses the "envelopeless-system." Just stick your check in and it does the rest.

Left them for a credit union.
In my original review I stated that I would only leave them for a local bank. Instead, I left them for an online credit union. Close enough. I wouldn't say that I had any particular troubles with Citibank. They served their purpose; I deposited checks into ATMs and paid bills online. However, with all the Occupy ruckus recently and their addition of fees, I decided to move to a credit union (alliantcreditunion.org). I opened an account with Citi in 2005 and their way of thanking me is with $15 per month service fees? Bitch, please. I now use direct deposit and receive money (dividends) through my credit union. And I still pay bills online.

See ya, Citibank.

Banking/Credit Cards - Citibank.
Only use these guys for my latest balance transfer - they have the most advantageous terms for 0% interest if you need to transfer some debt. Currently the best offer I have seen in the last year or so. Silly and stupid to pay interest on any credit card balance if you keep good credit.

Great service all around
I have had a credit card with Citibank for over six months now and been really happy. They have a 0% interest for 12 months offer which I took advantage of. Their customer service is very good - I was out of town a couple of times and they were happy to credit back some late fees that were initially charged. They even called me once when I forgot to make payment and were happy to remove any late fee charges. I would recommend using their credit card services.
