I have been following The Peridot Capitalist for a couple of years now. Every post is done in a timely well written manner. The blog is very educational and hits on topics from individual stocks to trends in the market. I recommend this blog to anyone looking to learn about the market regardless of investment experience.

One of the Best

I've been reading Peridot for a while now. The quality is excellent. Many of the articles/reviews are thoughtful. What really appeals is that it is not just a rehash of other blogs. He also does not follow the herd. The company analyses are thorough and usually raise a good point.

Fundamentally Good

The Peridot Capitalist is one of my favorite reads. It is well written and concise. It focuses on long-term fundamentals that gives it a nice edge versus those with a trading mentality. While I don't agree with all its recommendations, probably the best thing I can say is that it always makes me think.

Clear, well-reasoned

Having worked for years in the finance industry, first as an investment banker and now for years at a distressed/value focused investment firm, I've seen my share of blogs, newsletters, equity research publications and other various news sources. Peridot Capitalist is one of the only blogs that I follow regularly - I find it to be clear, well-reasoned, and most importantly an independent viewpoint that comfortably diverges from the mainstream when it makes sense.

On the broad market side, amidst the avalanche of information available (just think of the many talking heads on CNBC, all stating different opinions with scant fundamental support) I find the market commentary of Peridot to be excellent and well-informed. The blog cuts through the nonsense and market noise and focuses on medium to longer-term market trends that are rooted solidly in fundamentals and real analysis rather than momentum and conjecture. As an example I point to the fact that this blog used fundamentals to bravely (and correctly) argue that the market was around the bottom back in March 2009 - when market pessimism was at a peak.

The stock picks are similarly well-reasoned. Most impressively, they display the adequate degree of skepticism - evaluating the common viewpoint on industries and companies with a clear-headed and objective look at the fundamentals. The only times that it diverges from the fundamentals are for very well-argued reasons, such as for example to point out highly relevant agency problems (i.e., a recent blog post pointed to a founding CEO's own situation and history to explain why he would be an unlikely seller despite possible buyer interest - the analysis was spot on).

In sum, while I don't agree with everything that's written on Peridot I still find the all of the posts well-reasoned and interesting. This is a must-read for market watchers who are inundated with talking heads and want a clear voice amidst it all.

Unique Perspective

Chad does a great job using his value-bent to present a unique perspective on various stocks. While the blog is not necessarily updated frequently, the posts that are written are insightful and of high quality. He helps highlight 'the road less traveled' and I'd love to see more in-depth analytical posts in the future.

Chad Brand knows his stuff

Good honest insight into the crazy world of investing. Chad's postings are honest and concise. His knowledge of the markets has helped me in analyzing investments before taking the plunge into an equity position. I usually use Yahoo Finance to research stocks then I go to Peridot Capatalist to get the rest of the story. I put a lot of weight on Chad's opinion. He is not a bandwagon jumper and gives compelling reasons to either avoid or make an investment.

Thought provoking

Peridot Capitalist is one of the stock market related blogs that I read regularly. The Peridot Capitalist articles are certainly thought provoking.

One thing that I found missing on the charts in this blog are the sources for the numbers. I read quite a few other blogs that explicitly cite the sources or agencies that generated the data set. Something similar to this would go a long way if someone has to verify the charts.

What would be nice to see are numbers... a lot of numbers. After all it is all about numbers!! More charts will be great too.

Overall, Peridot Capitalist does a fine job of reporting selected stock market related news and analysis. Keep up the good work!!
