A must read for newbie traders
You must pick this book up if you are new to trading, and reread it over and over again.

Worth it for Intermediate + Traders Too
This is a well-written book and presented in an organized manner with some nice inspirational material as an added bonus. Is this the only book you need to succeed as a trader? No, but it's got a lot more practical information, in my opinion, than Farly and Sarkovich (in contrast to the person who posted below). Good luck trying to make it through Farley's material in the "Master Swing Trader." I have a library of good trading books and because I couldn't even understand what Farley was saying half the time or I was bored out of my mind, that one did not make it. I suggest that new traders add some reading by Martin Pring, John Murphy, Alexander Elder, Colin Alexander, and Stan Weinstein to supplement the material in this book.

Good start for beginners
Mostly a technical book. Shows you a little more about MACD, Bollinger Bands, OBV etc. The book might be read as a sequel to the previous one (Beginner's guide to day trading online). For many, it is not better than the other one. I think as a compliment for beginners it is a good sequel. It is not expensive so, last time i checked was about $11 in Amazon. In my opinion this is a good start for beginners to delve into basic analysis. Don't expect to find Money management rules, risk tolerance, position sizing or any of those topics covered here.

Again, I think it is good for newbies, and the price you get it for is pretty good.

As the title says... it's for beginners!
If you're new to short term trading then this isn't a bad place to start. Toni's style is clear and honest, presenting the facts and key concepts in an accessible manner. As I said in my other review on Toni's book "a beginners guide to day trading online" definitely get one or the other books, not both as there is a fair amount of repetition between the two.

Read Toni's day trading book!!!
She is an excellent author, that's for sure. I have read this one and also her day trading book. The day trading book is better by a mile, even for those wanting a book on swing-trading or position trading.

Essentially what this book amounts to is the swing-trading chapter in her daytrading book expanded with a whole lot of padding. It doesn't really offer any additional insights in my opinion. I can understand the reason for this book from a marketing perspective, but you are much better off reading her day trading book regardless of your trading time-frame.

Good for Beginners.
This is not the first book on investing however, it IS the first book on "short term" investing I read. Toni Turner keeps it simple, not too technical and easy to digest. Good book to get a basic overall idea.

I like Toni Turner's fundamental integrity but...
As a recent convert to penny plays, and her book being aimed at "real" stocks, I can only recommend her so much.

She basically redoes her "a beginner's guide to day trading online" almost note for note, with small differences, and this is troubling.

But her insights and mood and motivational skills make up for that in ways.

Toni eventually learned trading after a long road into making money, and now sells books and DVDs and seminars, currently. She writes articles on trading for places like tradingmarkets.com

I loved her play selection article on huge down days in the dow followed by huge rallies of the hundreds of points, as seen in the financial crisis and she noted, had occurred in the 2002 bear market which she banked coin on both times, if I recall correctly.

The best part of the book outlines an *exact* swing trading play setup from start to finish, from a watchlist watcher to the exit, and her reasons and trade management.

Also, her end of the book definitions and tips are handy, and her "you, the wizard of odds" ending section ditto. This and her trade outline mentioned above make it worth a look.

This is like the title says a beginners guide.
I liked her other book better. I read this book when it first came out and that is when I realized I was no longer a beginner in short term trading, because this is some pretty basic stuff, that you should be able to find on the internet by googleing short term trading strategy.
