Great Starting Point

I started Investing with Tradeking and have been very satisfied with their trading executions. Good customer service and decent commissions of 4.95 for trades (stocks). I still have an account with them although I use them less now as they do not have too many stocks to short and do not offer too many stocks below $3. Overall would recommend them to anyone who is starting to invest.

Solid Broker

Tradeking is solid. Live chat is readily available. There are lots of goodies and tools that make you feel like you could hang out on the tradeking site forever.

The only reason why I went to another broker is because their margin req % was high and many restrictions on short selling certain stocks. For the casual and beginner trader this is a great pick.

Great to start off with

I started off with Tradeking and learned a lot and the customer support is the best in the business...

Penny stocks: This is NOT the place to go if you want to trade penny stocks because they charge extra for them...

Customer service: They have great people that are willing to answer any questions you have and spend the time they need to spend on your question...

Tools: They do not have the think or swim/etrade pro type tools that are necessary for serious trader. But they do have a great community set up where you can find out what others are trading as well as an extensive list of tutorials...

Value: For large caps you cant beat 4.95
