Great Starting Point

I started Investing with Tradeking and have been very satisfied with their trading executions. Good customer service and decent commissions of 4.95 for trades (stocks). I still have an account with them although I use them less now as they do not have too many stocks to short and do not offer too many stocks below $3. Overall would recommend them to anyone who is starting to invest.

Solid Broker

Tradeking is solid. Live chat is readily available. There are lots of goodies and tools that make you feel like you could hang out on the tradeking site forever.

The only reason why I went to another broker is because their margin req % was high and many restrictions on short selling certain stocks. For the casual and beginner trader this is a great pick.

Low cost on-line broker with advanced trading tool set

PROS: TradeKing offers a lot of value, $4.95 per trade plus 65 cents per option. They also provide a large selection of advanced trading tools such as "one (event) triggers/cancels another", trailing stops, etc. Finally, they offer a great deal of investment education that is particularly geared to options trading. Their website is easy to use. It has a feature that allows one to dump their data to Quicken which can then be dumped to TurboTax making tax forms easier.

CONS: They don't yet have website for mobile (smart phone) use but they are working on developing one.

Good online broker for a light trader

I have to say I do miss trading with tradeking. My only complaint is they dont have any shares to short and the ones they do have are over 5 dollars. Because I trade using Tim Sykes strategy I needed a broker that had a better selection of shares to short. They have excellent tools that you need to ask for and they will give you for no charge. They allow pre-market and afterhours trading which some other brokers do not offer like sogotrade. After hours though is only offered till 5pm which can be a bit of a pain. All in all I would defintly sign up with them again if they had more shares to short and extended after hours trading a bit.

Cust. Service Shines

Tradeking is definately a good starting point for anyone new to investing, primarily because of their low commissions and great customer service. The tools they offer aren't terrible but nothing compared to etrade pro. I have had an account there for over a year now and really can't find anything substantial to complain about. Great inexpensive place to start investing.

Good for the Poor

TradeKing has a low minimum and cheap commissions. To short hard-to-borrow stocks you need to call to check for availability. I feel as though SogoTrade is now the new TradeKing except it has $3 commissions instead of $5

Good starter broker!

For beginners into finance who just want to get by with decent executions and trading tools this is fantastic. Great value, I enjoyed the DRIP option for my long term holdings. Never can get as cheap as Zecco but for what you get it is a good deal, I have since moved on into full service brokers but I believe this will serve novices like I was very well.

Trade Pauper

This trading platform is for the poor. If you want the lowest commission rates and the least amount of power out of a platform, then go for trade-king. This platform should be called Trade-Pauper. However if you are taking a toe-dip and want to start out trading, I guess you could go for this, but why not have an all out great experience when you first start. You could use Ameritrade or Trademonster etc, JUST NOT TradeKing.
