Karen Finerman

DESCRIPTION
Karen Finerman has been President of Metropolitan Capital Advisors, Inc. since 1992 when she co-founded the firm. Prior to June 1992, she was the Lead Research Analyst for the Risk Arbitrage department at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corporation. Prior to joining DLJ in 1990, Karen was a trader at First City Capital, a risk arbitrage fund for the Belzberg Family. Karen received a B.S. in Economics, from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School in 1987, with a concentration in Finance.

Great Long Term Investor

Karen Finerman is a great long term investor. She is honest when she makes a mistake & she'll cut her losses-but she's had some amazing picks over the years especially buying the preferred Financials very close to the bottom & holding Bank Of America for what has already turned out to be a great trade. Again-not every trade of hers is a homerun & she's honest when she makes a mistake-but overall-her trades more often than not turn out to be very insightful & profitable.

Best on Fast Money

Karen is the only one with substantial street cred. on Fast Money. She has a hell of a resume and does a wonderful job on Fast Money. Her picks are those that I will listen to, unlike the rest of the Fast Money traders. Keep it up!

Intelligent and Level Headed

Unlike the other hyperactive cheerleaders on Fast Money, Karen tends to be more conservative and lonter term in her approach to the market. She's made some good calls and some bad calls, but you can tell she's very intelligent and at least has reasoning behind her suggestions (other than the usual "We're in a real recovery - buy buy buy!").

Of course, having to share the panel with everyone means you rarely get to hear her talk. But overall, she's sharp and seems to run her own firm pretty well.

Not the sharpest tool in the shed

I would never trust her advice. She is not doing a bad job on Fast Money though but still I would never let her influence you where you put your money. I'd bet you'd be better off listening to someone else.
