What would be the best way to understand and learn about financial instruments such as stocks, bonds, options, or swaps and how they are used to influence the financial markets?

I used to wonder the same thing and I never did find a good single location. The best method I found was either Googling for specific info, or reading articles I didn't understand until I finally did -- (I personally like Minyanville the best for learning about financial instruments and the macro economy).

Anyone out there know a good information site or book that covers it all?
