Good Tech Reviews, awful systems

I am a user of the site and think both guys are talented technical analysts. They have something of a hindsight bias and will hint at trade possibilities at the time but imply these were recommendations if they turn to winners. Which is OK. Steve is very measured, careful and I'm always relieved to hear his voice on the nightly updates. Matt is also good but comes across pretty supercilious. His biggest failure is the mistaken belief that he understands mechanical trading. The failure of the SPY system shows clearly he doesn't. Despite that, he continues to trundle out more systems with no predictive power. I have made money on balance from the guys, largely as I give the systems a wide berth.

They try to help, but really are not helpful

I have been a trader for 12 years and was a member for almost four years so I have good knowledge of the site. The four main components to the site are: nightly updates, blog, spy system, and trading picks.

The nightly updates are sometimes informative. When I loaded them I immediately paused the commentary and just paged through the report to see if there were any charts that were interesting to me. Besides that the commentary was not biased so it would tell you the market can do this or this or this. Which is good because nobody knows, but is basically useless. Because of the good charts occasionally in the reports I give it a 3 out of 5.

The blog was very useful when other members were making informative posts. Not it is overrun with a few people posting mostly useless info. Was a 4 out of 5 a few years ago, now a 1 out of 5.

I never used the trading picks because the stocks needed to be monitored on an hourly basis. They seemed to produce good results, but I dont know if that is just because they only highlighted the winners. I cant rank this because I didnt use it.

The SPY System was the reason I left the site. When developing systems you have to be intelligent enough to not optimize a system for the previous data. A good system should be able to trade different instruments in different markets and still be successful. None of that was done with this system. I believe it was completely optimized for the past market data. The reason I came to these conclusions was its performance. When the results were published to their website they showed an average of 36% return per year with a very minimal loss. These seemed phenomenal and too good to be true, but we all had a lot of respect for Matt so we trusted him. Immediately out of the gate the system performed poorly. It has now been a year and a half and the system has made maybe 2-5%. Obviously there is a major disconnect between previous backtesting of data and forward trading. My only conclusion was the system was optimized. If you go the website you will notice all results published end on April 2011. In addition to the system being horrible, I was even more aggravated when the other small systems he did develop were given to the entire world for free across his blog. This seemed to me he had little respect for the 180K he received by selling the system to 500 patsies, and was only concerned about bringing in new ones.

A lot of value for the money

I have been with BPT for 3 yrs, and found it to be one of the sites that give you the biggest bang for the buck. They review Stocks,Commodities, Bonds, and ETFS. They offer detailed trades for the daytrader or swing trader, give you profit targets, as well as stop levels. They offer nightly reviews and detailed weekend newsletters, that give a detailed look at where the market is, and where it is headed, with reviews of all the major indexes.They give you levels to watch, and indicate where to expect resistance, pullbacks, market downturns or further upside. They actually give you indicators to use in your own trading to improve your own results, and don't keep everything secret.

They have developed a spy trading system that was just released in may, and got off to a rocky start, So Matt extended everybodys subscriptions for free untill it makes 10% !! I don't know of anyone, at any site that would be willing to stand behind their system like that.

Whether you are an experienced Day Trader, or just learning, they offer something for everybody.

I don't know what Raygun was expecting, but nobody knows what this market is doing day to day, and has been one of the toughest markets to trade even for the experts, So BPT trys to prepare you for anything!

I have had nice stock picks that moved 10% or more in a few days that BPT has picked, just by watching the volume levels they recommend.

I have also been a member of other sites, and have constantly lost money on their special indicators that they don't even show you in real time, or ever! BPT will show you where their trades were made in real time, and will review a stock you are interested in and give you their opinion of it, and offer buy and sell levels. I don't really know of any site willing to be a personal as BPT. I am quite happy with them, and will remain a subscriber for a long time to come.

Great site for a serious trader. No one knows what the market will do. With BPT you have bullish and bearish scenarios every day and every week, with support and resistance levels, fib levels, trend lines and patterns, wave counts -- and you know exactly what to do because you have plans laid out, whether the market goes up or down, etc. The new trading system -- they have such confidence in it that they just extended memberships at no cost until it is 10% profitable from inception!!! Can't get much better than that, Been with them six years. Raygun must want someone to just tell him what to do every day, but no site can do that. Fi you want actionable market analysis --this is the place.

Waste of money

Have been a member of this site and have given it a fair amount of time prove itself.

The site owners come out with lengthy updates each night and one on the weekends. The problem is, if you do not fall asleep, is that the give every scenario the market can take. Up, down or sideways. These updates are a complete waste of time since you might as well flip a coin or use a dart board.

They also have a watch list for stock trades breaking out which 50 % are about good for a point or two. If you want to sit in front of a computer screen all day this may be your cup of tea. The rest of the picks dont break out or go down. The stock part is mainly for daytraders.

However the success rate is not very good and I find this also was waste of time.

The subscription price is $480 a year.

They also came out with a SPYswing trading system for an addtional $600.00/year. You have to have the basic membership 480/yr to subscribe to the SPY $600/yr. This system was advertised as 80% plus accurate. Since it came out in april it has lost money. It is so bad that the administrator has extended eryones membership to the end of the year for free.

I would basicaly stay away from this site and spend your money somewhere else.
