Fantastic idea, well implemented... mostly
I found profit.ly through Tim Sykes blog and immediately loved the idea.
You can track all of your trades in one place. No spreadsheets, no math, all your accounts charted out for your so you can track your progress as you grow (or lose) your account.
The site is well laid out, simple and easy to use and overall kinda fun. I've spent more than I fair share of time just browsing other people's trades to see what else is hot and what's not, besides what I've been doing.
Now, here's the "mostly" part. I've been using profit.ly for many months now, and been using some of the guru alert services. For a while they worked perfectly. For the past 2-3 months or so I've been missing texts from one guru or another intermittently. At first I was told "Everything's fine on our end, call your carrier." Well, I skipped calling the carrier, reset my phone number in their system and all was well for another week or two. Recently I've been missing a LOT of texts from them (e-mails have all been fine) so i called my carrier to make sure none of the numbers were blocked. They said (in short) "No, nothing is blocked, nothing has been blocked, its not our end."
So I went back to tech support with this information. Tech support went to their text supplier who told me "Your number was on our blocked list for x,y,z reason, we reset it, all is fine." Well, if my number was blocked, why was i getting ANY texts at all? Something seemed fishy, but the next day (yesterday) I got all the texts that i was support to get from all 3 gurus that I follow.
The issue?
Today, 2/3 gurus I follow sent out alerts, and I only got texts from one of them. This is not a "you're on the blocked list" issue, something is wrong, has been wrong, and needs to be fixed.
I will say this though, the Profit.ly tech support has been top notch. I have no complaints at all about the people I've dealt with on their end. My issue is with the service that seems to be broken, at least in part, for some time.
Overall, the service itself is great. I use it, I like it, I would recommend it. The alerting portion of it is still good, just still has some kinks I'd love to see resolved.
