Even if it was free, it still wouldn't be worth it.
I was a member of Pro and Options for a year.

Paid $2,999 for the service, with the understanding (as was advertised by the promotion) to get a full refund anytime, even the last day of the subscription.

Allocated approximately $170,000 in IRA funds to Fool investments.

Did not participate in all recommendations, mainly because of IRA rules, but invested approximately $110,000.

After a year (the last 12 months) my Fool portfolio grew about $4,000 or 3.5%.

If you value you time, then don’t be a Fool’s fool.

The education that is posted on this site can be found for FREE all over the Internet.

The forums are a joke and remind me of the Muppet Show, because the main characters who post are the old guys in the balcony complaining about everything.

… and the superfluous information you will encounter is unbelievable. You will read for hours and come away with nothing other than feeling you know less then when you started.

The investment advice is late to the game and very conservative. And if another service has a recommendation on a stock, the service you are in will never hear about it.

MF spends more time trying to get you to join a new ‘game changing’ service, then they do giving subscribers valuable actionable advice.

And the kicker, your refund is pro-rated.

Fool on, if you like to throw your money away!

Supernova Service - Save Your Money
My first year with Supernova Odyssey ends at the end of March 2013, and I am planning on dropping the service. First pick from the Supernova team was WPRT @ $41, at the moment this stock has dropped like a rock, and has not even come close to the purchase price. Out of all the stocks available to pick from they pick WPRT as the 1st pick for the brand new service. Not a good choice !

The service is full of hype. MF tries to rationalize to its members why a particular stock is the best choice. If the SN portfolio was even coming close to beating the S&P, it would be a different story. However, that is not the case with Supernova. WPRT is just one example here. SN has bought 23 different stock thus far, and I own 22 of them. Just don't think the service is worth the money, and would not recommend The Fool.

Too much hype, too little substance... and spam to boot
Their emails and "reports" are too bombastic; quoting literally from the some of the many *dozens* littering my mailbox:

The next industry to crumble... and why NOBODY sees it coming

The $160 billion story Microsoft doesn't want you to hear...

You'll want to be on board for this one!

Dear China, it's over...

And more.

What's more, I've already requested unsubscribing more than once, and they won't honor it: their spam just keeps coming, and in repetition: in less than 1 week I've received no less than 5 of them, all of them sent before... thanks GMail for their antispam filtering.

So, do yourself a favor and *don't* subscribe to their website, or you won't ever be free of them.

It is okay.
I know that my one line description is not the most creative sounding. However, I don"t know of anyway to sum it up. I do, know however, that they should not be your only source for investment news at all. In fact, sometimes I wonder if I should stay away from them altogether. This is because they claim to be better than some of the most prestigious investors in the world. It is one thing if you are not better and you know it. However, these writers are either delusional or they hope all of their readers are idiots. Take all of the opinions with a grain of salt. Believe me, these guys would write for the Wall Street Journal if they could get hired. My advice, read the most reliable news sources, which they are not it.

cheap but you get what you pay for
These guys send out newsletters on some stock picks, mostly on a fundamental basis. I've never made money from these guys and I wouldn't reccomend using their service.

More information elsewhere
I am a member of their newsletter service Stock Advisor but other than that I don't use them for much of anything else. All the information in the website can be found through other sources and the information that is provided under the stock quote section is much better on sites such as Yahoo or Google Finance. They do have a neat community section where you can post trades and see what other traders are thinking about various stocks on different message boards. Too much hyping of their newsletter services for me to continue to visit the site.

Not alot of original content
Most of their articles are rehashed, but the problem is, not rehashed from other sites, but from their own! Which is very funny, since you will see an article with the same title for different stocks. Then when you look at the structure of articles, it's super similar to another article with the same title. Almost as if they use the same article with gray boxes and when they want to write an article for company XYZ they fill in XYZ in the Gray Boxes.

Only good for quick glances.

4 out 5
The Motley Fool gets a 4 out of 5 rating from me. While the variety of news on the site is broad, and i like that......it is also very broad and I feel like you won't get the same kind of in-depth discussion, analysis and thought you get in other places. Nevertheless the motley fool is a good place for those in search of information. On the whole I recommend it.
